Before we start, I want you to think about your why. Why are you here? What's frustrating you?
I'll walk you through the same assessment framework I use in my initial consultations—so you can figure out your next steps for your health.
What do you want?
Maybe you want to lose weight—but what does that really mean? Are you struggling with energy levels and too exhausted to get what you need done? Having trouble with blood work you want to understand? Dealing with cravings you can't control?
And what's frustrating you right now?
"Oh my goodness, I'm so hangry at 3 o'clock in the afternoon."
"I have no control over cravings at night."
"I'm really struggling with mood swings."
Here's what I want you to understand: it's not willpower. It's hormones. It's physiology.
There really is no one best diet or lifestyle—because most of them work, and all of them are tools. We have to find the one that works for YOU.
Sleep, stress, pain, and movement—they all impact your diet. And your diet impacts all of them back. Everything is interrelated.
When you're exhausted, you're going to gravitate towards carbs. That's physiologic—you need quick energy, so you're going to look for those carbs. You won't see fullness cues, so you'll feel insatiable.
Sleep impacts your stress, your pain levels, and your ability to move. It's foundational.
Stress doesn't let us see fullness. It moves us toward foods that give endorphin release.
You'll reach for chips, Oreos, cookies, cakes—foods literally engineered to ping your endorphins. These aren't wholesome foods—they're food-like drugs designed to make you eat the next item in the container.
(Lays: "Bet you can't eat just one." Pringles: "Once it pops, you just can't stop." They don't even hide it.)
When you're in pain, you're looking for endorphin release too. You'll reach for those engineered foods again because you're in pain and you need something to help you feel better.
Pain impacts physical activity, which impacts everything else.
Movement can give you endorphin release (an alternative to food). But pain limits movement. And movement impacts what you can manage in the kitchen.
If we haven't eaten enough protein and we're eating too much sugar, our cravings will be very strong in the evening.
But if we can eat enough protein during the day—get to the point where you're actually full after dinner—then when that craving hits, NOW we can start the hard work of figuring out:
This is why my program addresses the whole picture, not just "eat this, not that."
